Q: What is Hypnosis?
A: One definition is: A state of concentration, awareness and/or focus that filters information and experience, in which a person has a heightened susceptibility to influence by suggestion from oneself or another.
Most people naturally enter this state many times during a normal day – it’s just that most are not aware that it is happening. “Zoning out” is a form of hypnosis. Driving somewhere, and then not remembering the trip, occurred in an hypnotic state.
Q: Are the participants really hypnotized or are they just playing along?
A: Some people do “pretend” and just play along, but most people are genuinely hypnotized and allow themselves to do things that they wouldn’t normally do in front of an audience. DebbieTay tries to discern who is “faking” it and who is really hypnotized and she sends those not genuinely in a trance back to their seats.
Q: If I allow DebbieTay to hypnotize me will she be able to control me?
A: No. DebbieTay can give suggestions but you still have to be willing to accept and act on them. No one can make you do anything against your will.
Q: If I go on stage will DebbieTay make me cluck like a chicken?
A: No. That’s not in any of her skits. Besides, no one can make you do anything. You can choose not to follow any instruction DebbieTay gives you.
Q: If I go on stage will I end up doing silly things?
A: Hopefully, that’s what makes the show fun! But, once again, you are always in full control.
Q: Will I make a fool of myself and be ashamed later on?
A: That’s up to you, but the DebbieTay Comedy Hypnotist show is a clean one. Depending on the venue some shows may be a little more risque than others, but never much past a PG-13 type rating. DebbieTay’s skits are designed to elicit funny responses, not humiliating ones.
Q: If I volunteer to come up on stage, will I have fun?
A: Absolutely! You will not only have a great time, you will be one of the “stars” of the show! For many people participating in a show becomes one of their special memories.
Q: Will the suggestions DebbieTay gives me during the show affect me after the show?
A: No. DebbieTay gives instructions that remove all the suggestions before she ends the show. She does, however, as a reward for participating in the show, offer to give a suggestion to assist with any issues or goals the volunteer might wish to address.
